It was time for mummy to have some fun with a 12 mile ride through some of Suffolk’s most beautiful countryside on the Thurlow Hunt Autumn Ride. After spending the last couple of weekends taking Frankie to mini cross country and other events it was lovely to be back out on Beanie.
I have been on this ride for the past three years and it never disappoints! It’s got it all; grassy tracks, no roads, jumps ranging from tiny logs to substantial hedges and hunt jumps. Beanie absolutely loves it!
With the rain we had leading up the ride I was organised and set to meet my old friend Emma (we've been friends since Secondary School) and her new horse bright and early. We were on-board and ready to ride at 9am and left shortly after, talk about organisation! It wasn’t the best of mornings with fog and low cloud but it didn’t take away from the lovely countryside we had the pleasure riding through on the Thurlow Estate, which is maintained to high standard.
Both Emma and I both have small babies and it was a refreshing treat for both of us to take a few hours to ourselves and leave the children being babysat with Daddies and Grandmas. With lots of conversations and topics covered, jumps, ditches and gallops completed we finished the ride in just over two hours with plenty “left in the tank” for them both. Both Beanie and Emma’s new horse were impeccably behaved and enjoyed each other’s company. How lovely it was to go out and enjoy my lovely boy and go out with a dear friend too!
With one of the season’s last shows coming up, this little outing will have given Beanie lots of pleasure to go out and have some fun. He not only a show horse but a fit, agile hedge hopper too!
