Burghley Trot Up - My Favourite Outfits

So following the success of my Badminton Trot up blog post I did a while ago which had so many views I wanted to write another one for the Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials
It's not often we get to see riders scrubbed up and looking their best so I quite like doing a post celebrating what outfits I like most.

Nicola Wilson -

At Badminton I picked Nicolas outfit as my favourite and Burghley didn't disappoint. Yesterday had varying degrees of temperature and weather so I think for a cold wet day Nicola looked really good.
The brown jacket compliments the shoes, and the black skinny jeans are a staple to knit the outfit together. The colours are on trend for Autumn! And as with Badders, I love a pair of ankle boots!

Pippa Funnell -

I really like this outfit of Pippas. The cream trousers are a brave choice around horses at the best of times (we've all had beautiful immaculate jodhpurs covered in slobber or what not just before the big moment, am I right?) so for a trot up in front of the press is especially brave, but they go so well with that top! The colours are, like Nicolas outfit above, on trend for the season, and I love the pattern.
The boots are lovely, and with a good wedge heel are good for running in.
Very nice well done Pippa!

Ben Way -

Ben was featured in my last post and not much about his outfit has changed, It's similar with a few small changes, but it's classic and I'm alright with classic. Those navy chinos compliment the green tweed and the shoes bring it all together.
He's also really cute so that helps! Cute, well dressed gentleman. A+

Lynn Symansky -

I think before I start I must admit that this outfit is my favourite of the day. It's bright and gorgeous and I love it. That yellow rain coat is divine. I mean, I couldn't pull it off but it compliments her hair colour and the horses colour!
Much like Pippa a light colour trousers is brave with horses but they go so well with the jacket. Finished with sun glasses and a scarf accessories are great!

Wills Newton -

Another striking jacket andcombined with the bright chestnut of her gorgeous horse Newmarket Vasco One, it is works.
Not too flashy with just black jeans and black shoe boots but practical. The detail at the back of the jacket is pretty and brings it a little bit extra.

Dee Hankey -

I really like this outfit. Fedoras are my new favourite accessory this winter and works super well with this outfit. The black of the jacket and the hat, outshot by the jackets brighter statement sleeves works really well. Not sure on the shoes though..

Gina Ruck -

Photo very kindly provided by Nico Morgan. Thank you

Gina's outfit is beautiful. I love the paisley smock top/dress and nipped in at the waist adds contouring, and the belt and long boots match. I love a good matching belt and boot combination.
I also love it when an outfit compliments the horse too and these are a perfect pair! Runner up in my favourite outfit for sure

Charlotte Agnew -

Photo by Nico Morgan! Love it!

I love this photo by Nico Morgan it's so fun and cheeky. The detail on Charlottes top is really cute, and with simple plain jeans and tassel boots it's boho chic, much like her outfit at Badminton. Very nice Charlotte!

Honourable mention - Ben Hobday. It just isn't a trot up without swooning over Ben. I think I speak for everyone that we cannot wait to see you back well again, riding and looking more dashing than you do now. Get well soon Ben!

I know this post is a little short but unfortunately I cannot be at Burghley, but horses aren't gonna ship themselves!
Please feel free to share your favourite Burghley trot up outfits with me via Twitter @sophiexjane or @gsshowing and I look forward to seeing second trot up outfits? Who will, shock horror, wear the same outfit again I wonder!

Stylish accessories for the countryside -The Bobble Hat Shop productreview!

Now, I may be a country girl who's hair is usually fly away, chapped lips from the wind and sometimes having a faint smell of horse about me so when I was very kindly sent some fashionable products by The Bobble Hat Shop  I jumped at the chance to put some make up on, untie my hair from a bun and write a fashion post!

In the winter my sister Georgie had bought this lovely hat with a fur pom-pom on top and I immediately wanted one. Is it because I'm the younger sibling who always wants what the older sister has? Perhaps! But I knew that the main winter fashion item to be seen at any good horse event, was a fur bobble woolly hat! Alas I just couldn't find the right one for the right price but I have now discovered The Bobble Hat Shop and I couldn't recommend them highly enough!

                                                     Treats!

I was very kindly sent 3 products to try out - A red hat cover with large natural fur pom pom, a rib knit woollen hat with natural pom pom and a gorgeous grey fur key ring! They're the most reasonably priced hats and accessories I've found, meaning you can be on trend without breaking your bank account!
All prices and links to purchase them can be found under each write up!

Hat Cover - Red with Large Natural fur pom pom

Beautifully modeled by my sister Georgie (and B) before their ride!

For years we've all had the same old option of hat silks either with a button or a wool bobble but now you can have a hat silk with a fur pom pom, therefore looking fashionable all while riding your gorgeous steed!

They come in a variety of colours made from a satin blend mix with an elasticated edge to enable a perfect snug fit on any size jockey skull hat. I chose a red silk but you can customise your coloured hat silk with different coloured fur pom poms too - making it easy to match your cross country colours!  Pom poms come in Natural, Black, Grey, White, Hot Pink, Baby Pink, Silver, Navy and Baby Blue. With 8 silk colours and 9 pom pom colours, you've got a lot of options to choose from and will be the envy of other competitors in the warm up arena!
Plus if you happen to get the hat silk dirty the fur bobble is removable (via a very sturdy popper button) so you can machine wash it without ruining the fur. Now that is what I call forward thinking!

Buy one here, starting from £29

Have a look at the video for some colour combination inspiration!

Rib Knit Wool blend hat in Oatmeal, with large natural fur pom pom -

My navy cable knit with white bobble

I know what you're thinking, it's not winter yet and it may be a mid 20 degree day with about 90% humidity but that didn't stop me from longing for a crisp winter day where I can snuggle up in a scarf and hat to keep warm.
These gorgeous hats have become a 'must have' within the fashion and equestrian world having being worn by Charlotte Dujardin, Jodie Kidd, Cara Delevingne and Emily King so if some of these very stylish celebs can wear one, why can't you?
I have mine in oatmeal which is sure to go with everything, although they come in 7 different colours you're sure to be able to match it with your favourite winter outfit!
And, like the hat silks, you can also unbutton the pom pom to either wash your hat if you get it dirty or if you want to change the pom pom over to a different colour to mix and match your outfit of the day!

You can buy one here for £18.95! A real bargain compared to other brands who are charging between £28 and £35 for a knit hat with a fur bobble!!!

White fur key ring/Bag accessory-

These little beauties have proved very popular as a little fashion accessory to add a bit of colour or character to your car keys or hand bag. Having been caught in photos with Khloe Kardashian, Kendal Kenner, Made in Chelsea's Louise Thompson to name just a few.

They also come in a range of colours and clip easily onto your clutch bag, keys or hand bag strap adding a splash of colour and character! And how are you ever going to loose your keys at the bottom of your handbag with this fluffy number attached? The answer is it's near impossible!
They clip on really easily with a beautiful gold clip and are just as easily taken off again to change over to a different bag!

I am forever tucking my keys into my pocket while out with the horses, and it makes it a cute easy to find again tag!
They can be purchased here for another amazingly low price of £15

I'd highly recommend all of The Bobble Hat Shops products, they're really well made and aren't going to break the bank. Whether you'd like to admit it or not everyone likes keeping up with high fashion trends and all of their products do that without making a massive dent in your bank account. There are quite a lot of other shops who offer similar products but with such a large mark up they often turn people off from buying them. They certainly did for me so with The Bobble Hat Shop you don't have to spend a lot of money for something you've always wanted!

They'd also make lovely presents to friends and family members who want something different to liven up their riding or going out look! There are just so many combinations that there is always going to be something for everyone and they can be changed to make a whole new look by being able to change the pom poms!
If you have any questions or enquiries then head over to their 'contact us'  page, or follow them on their social media accounts Facebook and Twitter  to see which events they're going to be at so you can see their products before you buy them!

Now go and buy one! Treat yourself, a partner or a friend because at these super reasonable prices you'd be mad not to!

Badminton Trot Up - Favourite Outfits

With Badminton Horse Trails Trot Up's happening as I write this, I thought I'd write a post that combines my love for horses as well as enjoying people's troy up fashion!

Photos are from Eventing Worldwide @Eventingwwnews and their AMAZINGLY minute by minute Twitter updates! And also the very talented photographer Nico Morgan

My first outfit I really liked was Nicola Wilson - I love this coat and boot combo. The cream boots and the cream in the jacket really compliment each other and look fashionable, stylish but also practical for today's chilly, windy, sometimes wet weather.
Love it!

Paul Tapner - I do enjoy a dapper tailored suit and Tapner delivered. Special mention of the waistcoat to match his suit jacket and throwing in some colour with red chinos and bow tie!
Yas Taperz, Yas!

Charlotte Agnew - Is this a Badminton Trot up or the ultra stylish Coachella music festival? I wasn't sure for a second with Charlotte's cute floral headband to add some colour to her cute 'Little Navy Dress' and tights. Really nice outfit!

Lawrence Hunt - Business up top, casual on the bottom. But for me it works! Nice navy slightly faded jeans, combined with a smart suit top and tie. It's not flashy, but it's nice. Those brown boots are also really nice. Good work Hunt!

Mary King - This women was my idol when I was a child, all I wanted to be was an eventer like Mary King. As you can see that didn't pan out..
Although her outfit was nothing to write home about, it's cute. Pale pink works well with the bay Kings Temptress and compliments each other! And the necklace added some sparkle!

Photo by Nico Morgan - Mary you look flawless!

Camilla Spears - Love this outfit, navy polkadot dress underneath a gorgeous long tweed jacket! Now that is tweed done right! Plus added points for cute black ankle boots!

Photo by Nico Morgan - FLAWLESS!

Ben Hobday - Now i'm gonna admit, I am bias.. only because I fancy Ben! It's like pony club all over again!
I tweeted a couple of weeks ago about what Ben would wear for the trot up and he didn't disappoint.
Mr Mulry the V8 Super Cob is turned out beautifully and Ben's dark blue jeans contrasted with a light grey 2 piece suit of a waistcoat and jacket, with a gorgeous pocket handkerchief! Also those brown boot shoes, YAS!!
Sun glasses on point!
10!! Favourite men's outfit of course!

Also sorry but could Ben be anymore cool?

Georgie Spence - I spy with my little eye some gorgeous Fairfax & Favour boots! And I could be wrong but that looks like a Holland & Cooper tweed and fur cape! Keeping up with the best british rural fashion Georgie.. nice!

Laura Collette - I also spy another pair of Fairfax & Favour Boots! And another Holland & Cooper number, very nice ladies and great for supporting UK brands! Fairfax & Favor, they're a strong brand this year aren't they and well represented!

Aiofe Clarke - Love that navy rain jacket, white jeans and ankle boots. Can you tell I am a fan of ankle boots yet?

Janet Brakewell - I love this statement coat! I do, I love it! It's a gorgeous spring reddy coral colour, it goes SO well with the white jeans and tan long boots. A+

Mark Tood - Another gent experimenting with colourful chinos. Combined with a lovely brown tweed suit, this is spot on!

Bettina Hoy - Autumn shades for Bettina, but the fur lined cape cardigan, darker cream jeans and brown ankle boots. Simple, appropriate and practical. I like practical for trot up's!

Hannah Bate - I love this navy outfit. It's almost lead rein show style, the navy pencil jacket with thick tights to keep her warm in his chilly spring day. Finished off with a nice pattern scarf. Very neat! I like it

Ben Way - really likes this classic gents outfit. Dark blue jeans, blue oxford shirt and a tweed jacket. Red tie giving a hint of colour. I like this a lot

Photo by Nico Morgan - Ben is that your concentration face?

Niklas Bschorer - Love this navy suit, it's formal but also casual enough not to look too flashy.

Bravo ladies and gentleman for making trot up's look flawless and keeping it stylish!
Summary, white jeans were a strong choice for a lot of women. I really like that most dressed very appropriately for the somewhat chilly spring weather. Style not compromised for the cold wind! A+ girls!
For the gents, coloured jeans or chinos were a good choice to add a touch of colour and fun to a traditional outfit. I'm also loving the small little accents that make men's outfits like coloured bow ties, skinny ties, pocket handkerchiefs, and nice brown leather shoes.
